If you are planning to build a log bed then first you need to decide what size it is going to be. There are the standard sizes: twin, double, queen, and king. There are also variations of queen and king that are longer than the standard.

If you know what size of mattress you need to fit your plans to, then you need to decide what kind of log bed you want: bunk beds, canopy bed, poster bed, day bed, etc.

If you have chosen the size and the style, now you are ready to choose the plans you want. Keep in mind that even if you begin with simple plans, you can change them and add on to them to fit your desires and needs. You can shorten or lengthen the posts. You can carve the headboard or posts. You can add a canopy or make it higher off the ground. However, if you do alter the plans make sure that you measure very carefully and consider all things that might be altered by your changes.
